Qst4 In Progress...

QST4 is a Project about Projects. It's the MetaProject.

A free form work in progress, to provide a place for finding, following and documenting my many projects expereiments and sources.

Update 3/23/25

It's always a struggle when you are losing the skills you had before. I'm about an hour into trying to get another site added to this server and I somehow tangled up everything when I last messed around. I don't have much more time but I should get back to this when I can. I got another domain name and I still haven't set up the others that I have. Whoops!

Lastest Update 3/2/25

16 Months later! Yes, that's a long time but in that time I've done quite a bit of work. Lots of volunteer work and paid work with MADE. This is not a great way to type long form for me anymore, vim that is, I should get this workflow going another way. Also, Since it's been so long I don't know how some of the other sites on qst4, like msnyng are no longer working.

I did get an auto updater working, which can be found in the repo now. Auto commit would be nice too but I think that might be a bit much. It would let me be really lazy. But it would save me time and just let me write.

I wonder if it would reflect in here or what is even happening here... This remote connect thing is really cool.

Latest Update 11/2/23

I've been playing this game the last few days.

play: https://bitburner-official.github.io/ src: https://github.com/bitburner-official/bitburner-src

I have a lot of stuff going on, a lot of irons in the fire- as it goes. I should make sure I can handle what I have going on so I can get back to this organizational project... I also need to finish spinning up msnyng.com, this would be a good place for that. Although. It's hard to tell what qst4 is... it's a foundation. That's what I keep saying. It's made to be a starting point? That's 0... that's qst0. It's something else? Idk... oof. It's nothing? lol qst0 is better for that too.

Latest Update 10/27/23

I'd been trying to get a steam to show on the site, and I did this COMM20 stuff. That might break... that link. I made it a relative not explicit link and heck if I know if I'm going to keep everything where it is. I think about cerealize.me and how that site died... I bet the domain is free up again, maybe. I can check that with a simple whois cerealize.me so I'll do that.

Command 'whois' not found, but can be installed with:
apt install whois

lol. I did that and learned it expires next year 2024 on the 29th of June.

Anyway I think that I lost my train of thought. I was playing this hacking and script writing themed idle game and was going to play it over here. But it gives me the same 'fun' that playing on qst0 and qst4 does. I should make my todo list. I can do that with habitica because I already will gravitate to that list.

But, an issue is- it won't have a historic entry. This is me treating this like a Journal or like what msnyng.com should be. Fixing that up shouldn't be too hard. Then I can make qst4 a hub again. I've created sites a few times too... so I should make scripts that help me do that. Repetition and then automation.

I think I fixed my bun run script for building this site too. I should look into some markdown css themes. Well, that didn't work. Also, I should avoid this single line formatting unless I want to modify my markdown to html thing and not just use it as it is.

I've added msnyng and gone over the flow here again and what I need to mention and automate. But it's now time for bed and I need to lay down so (it's the middle of the night) so that's something

Latest Update 10/13/23

QST4 is a project about itself. It's a metaproject, a project that could be the seed for other projects. A foundation of sorts but- I feel further from understanding a topic fully than ever. So what should I do? Try to bring it all together somehow. I'll get all my sites working and hubbed together from here while keeping track of how I do it and getting the reader- even if that is only myself for some time, to understanding what why and how this project exists. It's just a hobby for now, another part of the MetaHobby but it aims to bring clarity to the mess that has become and allow qst0 to be a starting point for creativity and experimental work, qst4 to be a foundation for knowledge and building. I'll see how this goes. For now, I'll build this and commit what I have so far...

I'm having a bit of trouble with my build script and getting it to work on my protected Journal folder.

Older Stuff

So I've almost gotten this in shape. I just need to rewrite some of the python. But I think at this point I need a better coding enviorment than vim, sorry vim, for when I'm working on the website on the server. It's a strange case to be in but if this is my dev server- it makes more sense. Wow. I mean, node-- or typescript. Not python. Anyway. I did it without needing anymore than vim. It worked well enough and now I can go about writing in this like normal.

So, this is going to be replaced by a generator. I just need to do it. But I'm feeling kinda lazy and I don't want to do it right now. So I'm not going to do it now.

Just html can hardly do anything, but it's an okay place to start.

Before that we had to set up nginx

Which required us to be at least a bit comfortable in the command line.

How would I go about making a tutorial for each of these?

To get to at least this point? The point where we have the site up at the domain.

I need https also. But that's an extra step.

Having more than one page would be good, I should make /help to start.
